Watching downhill skiers hurl themselves down steep mountains at breakneck speed is incredibly popular, especially in Europe. But now, after a series of spectacular accidents, athletes such as overall World Cup champion Bode Miller are raising questions about whether organizers are gambling with “the lives of the racers” by putting the pleasure of the spectators and sponsors ahead of their safety.
