Stelmach invites the new president to the Athabasca oil sands
Premier Ed Stelmach is so earnest. That’s why Albertans love him. Observe his sincerity when, on a visit to Texas, the premier invites U.S. President Barack Obama to the Alberta oil sands (next stop, Sydney, N.S., then on to Love Canal). "We’re delighted that Canada will be President Obama’s first foreign visit," he told a gathering at Rice University, reports the Calgary Herald. "We know that he is interested in energy issues, and would love for him to come to Alberta and see the oil sands for himself." It’s an invitation, funnily enough, that environmentalists would be only too happy to see accepted.
