MONTREAL – Don’t ever let anyone tell you that your vote doesn’t count.
Just ask newly elected Montreal councillor Lorraine Page — who won her seat by a single vote.
A Quebec election spokesman said a judicial recount on Tuesday confirmed that Page captured her north-end district by one ballot.
Pierre Laporte said the initial tally following the Nov. 3 election reported that Page had won by eight votes over her closest rival.
It was the defeated candidate who called for the recount.
Page is the former head of the province’s largest teachers’ union and will now represent the Ahuntsic–Cartierville district at city hall.
