Your toilet will be ready in a minute, sir. Would you like a drink from the urinal while you wait?

Local and Western diners are flocking to Modern Toilet, a scatologically themed Taiwanese restaurant chain where they sit on stylish acrylic toilets (with the lid down), eat meals from mini-toilet bowls, and sip drinks from plastic urinals.  Menu selections include curries, pasta, and Mongolian hot pot, as well as shaved-ice desserts with names like "diarrhea with dried droppings" (chocolate), "bloody poop" (strawberry) and "green dysentery" (kiwi). It’s supposed to shock and confuse the senses, manager Chen Min-kuang, explains to Time, which quotes one American diner: “The Chinese can take this…because they are more nonchalant about bodily functions, such as burping, farting or even going to the bathroom.”  Business is booming: Modern Toilet’s planning expansion into China and other parts of Asia.
