An hour before the nomination deadline in Toronto, Rob Ford dropped out of the race for mayor and his brother Doug entered it.

The ailing mayor is now running for council in Ward 2 Etobicoke North, a seat he held for a decade before he became mayor in 2010. Doug Ford filed his nomination papers to run for mayor shortly after at city hall. The mayor, who remains in hospital with an abdominal tumour, announced his decision shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday
