As proven by Wednesday evening’s impolitic imbroglio on the floor of the House of Commons—when Justin Trudeau elbowed his way through a pack of NDP MPs to retrieve the Conservative whip—things can get raucous and more than a little petty, even in Canada’s most hallowed halls. And it’s certainly not the first time someone has said or done something a bit childish. But just how childish can it get?

Maclean’s pulled a pile of unusual quotes taken from Hansard—and a selection of quotes from Kids Say The Darndest Things—to see how well you can tell what was said by one of our country’s civic leaders, or by someone eight years old or younger. You may find that identifying the 15 quotes below will be more difficult than you expect! (Scroll to the bottom of the post to see which MP said the quotes in question.)
