MONTREAL – A 20-hour standoff between a senior citizen and Montreal police has ended with the man being shot with a rubber bullet.
Police say he surrendered after an officer shot him this morning.
The 72-year-old man has been taken to hospital.
Police were able to get into the west-end residence after Quebec provincial police used an armoured vehicle with a battering ram to knock down the front door.
Montreal police said Tuesday an officer may have been shot in the foot while the man was barricaded in the house.
They said the SWAT team member was either struck by a bullet or slammed into an object.
The standoff started late yesterday morning when police were alerted to workers on a property being threatened by a man with a gun.
