Ukrainian television station reportedly shut down in Crimea

Ukrainian television channel, "1+1" ha been blocked in Crimea on the orders of the region’s self-delared prime minister, Sergei Aksenov, according to the media outlet.

A spokesperson for "1+1" media, in an email and attached statement sent to Maclean’s, says a Russian television station is now broadcasting in its place.

Sergei Aksenov was appointed Crimean prime minister after armed gunmen stormed the Crimean parliament in Simferopol, where they remain. Kyiv’s new government does not recognize Aksenov’s authority and has issued a warrant for his arrest. All of Crimea is now in the hands of Russian troops, or pro-Russian civilian "self-defence" units.

The Ukrainian broadcaster alleges several of its journalists in Crimea have been attacked.
