This type of argument reliably smokes out New Democrats who crow about how only they have the wit and fortitude to stand up to the government. I’m quite sure that if the Liberals ever did oppose the government with their votes in the Commons, the New Democrats would turn on a dime — again — and start voting against with the government. But of course, I can’t know that, because the question remains hypothetical.
