As this year’s Parliamentarians of the Year get back to work, we asked if they’d join us for a series of hour-long live chats that explore their jobs as parliamentarians and what makes an effective representative in the House of Commons.

We’ve spent the last week chatting with award winners, including Irwin Cotler, Elizabeth May, Peter Stoffer and Brent Rathgeber. We asked questions, they answered. Throughout, a number of Samara‘s shortlisted Everyday Political Citizens joined the fray. Catch up on all the substantive conversations below, starting with Green leader Elizabeth May.

POTY-ElizabethMay

Our first chat featured Green Leader Elizabeth May. She joined us from global climate talks in Lima, Peru. The live chat is embedded below. Don’t be shy. Please submit as many questions as you’d like in advance. We’ll archive each conversation at the bottom of this page.

POTY-Stoffer

Our second chat featured NDP MP Peter Stoffer on Dec. 10.

POTY-Rathgeber

Our third chat featured Independent MP Brent Rathgeber on Dec. 11.

POTY-Cotler

Our fourth chat featured Liberal MP Irwin Cotler, the Parliamentarian of the Year, on Dec. 15.
