NDP: Still not partying yet

Add Maclean's(opens in a new tab)

A few scattered cheers as news of Layton’s re-election is announced on the enormous video screen in the Guvernment. That’s followed immediately by scattered boos at news of Bob Rae’s success.

Some dark clouds too: Rahim Jaffer leads in Edmonton-Strathcona, which is bad news for the NDP’s hopes of an Alberta seat. And Thomas Mulcair is trailing in Outremont (very, very bad news for the NDP).

Fingers are still crossed here for the indomitable John Rafferty in Thunder Bay.

Update: Rafferty wins.
