Western Canada’s oldest university offers more than 100 programs, including some rare courses, like design of assistive technology devices and decolonizing and Indigenizing engineering education. Professional schools offer degrees in architecture, engineering, medicine, dentistry, law and pharmacy.

Home to more than 2,600 First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, the U of M offers specialized Indigenous programs, bursaries and scholarships established for Indigenous students, an annual graduation powwow and a new Indigenous student community space.

While the trademark Georgian-style architecture reminds students of the school’s history, the school’s state-of-the-art, 100,000-square-foot Active Living Centre welcomes visitors with its floor-to-ceiling windows. An extensive tunnel system links old and new buildings, keeping students warm during Winnipeg’s harsh winters. Construction is underway on the 407-seat Desautels Concert Hall. Scheduled to open in September of 2024, it will house a flexible performance space with state-of-the art acoustics.
