What had been a fun, narrative-filled affair at this year’s Rogers Cup ended almost perfunctorily, with both the women’s and men’s finals on Sunday ending after just two short sets each. But it was hardly disappointing: Agnieszka Radwanska completed a total dismantling of the powerful Venus Williams in two straight sets, while Jo-Wilfried Tsonga would not be denied his improbable run of underdog victories, dispatching his fourth Top-10 ranked player by triumphing over Roger Federer to claim the cup.
