That’s exactly what this week’s column in The Peak by J.J. McCullough has done.
Two bitter opponents must find a way to work together
I have received very preliminary numbers from voting at Simon Fraser Union on continuing their membership in the Canadian Federation of Students. The preliminary numbers I received are 2928 votes to leave the CFS and 1462 votes to stay.Updated preliminary numbers, Total Votes: 4442, Votes to leave the CFS: 2948, Votes to stay in the CFS: 1452.As I said these are early numbers.UPDATES:Amy Fox, SFSS External Relations Officer sent out the following in an mail: (0506 Eastern 21 Mar 08)*We won.
I just spoke to the Chief Electoral Officer of the Simon Fraser Students Society Independent Electoral Commission. He informs me that over 1600 students vote yesterday on the first day of the vote on independence from the Canadian Federation of Students. By comparison, this is the same number of people that vote over three days in last year’s SFSS election.

Tonight, at least three students’ union (that I know of) finished voting today and are in the process of tabulating the results: the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union, Simon Fraser Students’ Society, and the York Federation of Students.
