Police in Toronto launch criminal Ghomeshi probe

TORONTO – Police in Toronto have opened a criminal investigation into former star radio host Jian Ghomeshi.

A spokesman tells The Canadian Press that two women have come forward to complain.

The spokesman says officers are now investigating, but had no other details.

The CBC says it fired Ghomeshi last Sunday after seeing graphic evidence that he had caused physical injury to a woman.

Ghomeshi and his lawyer were not immediately available for comment, but last weekend he insisted having only consensual “rough sex” with women.

On Thursday he said would meet the allegations “directly,” but said he won’t discuss the matter further with the media.
