Concordia
Concordia is one of Canada’s largest universities, offering more than 500 programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It provides a flexible learning environment with evening classes, online courses and a library that’s open 24/7. “At Concordia, creativity, research and innovation have real-world impact. Whether by integrating sustainability into all aspects of our work or by guaranteeing experiential learning opportunities to every undergrad, our next-gen mindset has made us one of the world’s best young universities,” says president Graham Carr. The District 3 Innovation Hub is a community in which students, alumni and academic leaders share ideas and generate new products.
Living in Montreal has its perks. Rent is cheaper than in many other large cities, and the downtown campus is close to attractions and nightclubs. The Loyola campus in nearby Notre-Dame-de-Grâce is easy to reach by shuttle bus, public transit or bike path. It’s home to the Centre for Applied Synthetic Biology, which brings together researchers from biology, engineering, computer and social sciences.Concordia recently introduced the Kaié:ri Nikawerà:ke Indigenous Bridging Program, an additional support pathway for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students. Concordia is committed to providing all undergrads with an experiential learning experience, doubling the number of opportunities offered this year, including capstone projects, community volunteering and international exchanges.
Campus buzz: Concordia is a silver-level Fair Trade Campus, meaning students have easy access to ethical, equitable and sustainable choices for coffee, tea, sugar, bananas, chocolate and school swag, like shirts and tote bags.
