Université du Québec à Rimouski
With its main campus on the shores of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, 300 kilometres northeast of Quebec City, the Université du Québec à Rimouski is the northernmost university in the province. UQAR offers more than 180 programs from the undergraduate to the doctoral level in fields such as marine sciences, computer science, environmental and bioresource chemistry, geography and regional development, engineering, psychology, education, management and social sciences. Students come from around the globe to study with scientists whose expertise covers a broad spectrum of ocean-related issues. Engineering students have an opportunity to specialize in coastal infrastructure through courses that explore shoreline stability, construction and design. A unique biology program provides theoretical and practical training in areas that range from zoology and ecology to botany. Also noteworthy is a research area known as “nordicity,” which explores the changing landscape of the far North. On the Lévis campus, across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City, popular programs include education, nursing, social work, administration and computer science.
