University of Lethbridge
With campuses in Lethbridge and downtown Calgary, the University of Lethbridge has academics working in niche areas, and classes are small enough that undergrads can share in professors’ discoveries. The school has roots as a liberal arts university and fosters an impressive fine arts community. Students in the Dhillon School of Business have a high-tech trading centre and spacious team workspace on both campuses. Lethbridge is also home to Science Commons, which houses eight science departments and fosters collaboration among students, faculty and the community to solve the planet’s complex problems.
“ULethbridge is a very welcoming community,” says president Digvir Jayas. “We are committed to empowering student success and providing exceptional experiences, spaces and facilities, enabling each student to find a strong sense of purpose, belonging and personal growth in and out of the classroom.” Lethbridge is creating opportunities and support for Indigenous youth through a partnership with the Blackfoot Confederacy and the Mastercard Foundation. Students can also meet with elders, share stories, teachings and wisdom, and engage in community dialogue at the new Iikaisskini (Low Horn) Gathering Centre. All students can take part in work-integrated learning opportunities. Lethbridge’s new Southern Alberta Medical Program will welcome its first cohort of students in July 2026. First year arts students can take Early Start Experience, a two-week condensed course before the start of the fall term, that helps students transition to university.
