Moose that walked in the door of a B.C. grocery store dies in attempted relocation
Don’t feed the animals! It was a message that the residents in the northern B.C. town of Smithers learned after a moose walked through electronic sliding doors and right into the town’s Safeway.
According to a report from CBC News, shoppers were feeding the moose in the parking lot when it walked right in. "People were feeding it outside, rolling apples back and forth trying to get it to eat them. And it was eating them, and it was very, very disturbing. They should’ve just left it alone," resident Harold Gyger told CBC.
Some shoppers pulled out their smartphones and snapped pictures and video as the moose wandered through the flower section.

The video shows an employee luring the moose back outside with an apple.
Animal control officers tranquilized the moose after the grocery store visit and tried to relocate it away from the community, but Conservation officer Kevin Nixon says it died shortly after it was transported.
