Senator Patrick Brazeau back on Twitter with poem after assault charge

Senator Patrick Brazeau, once a prolific user of social media, has reappeared with his first tweet after being charged with sexual assault and assault after being arrested at his home in Gatineau, Que. on February 7.

The line, with a few mistakes added in, is taken from an anonymous 1960s poem, writes National Post reporter Tristin Hopper. "Four stanzas long, it concludes with the vow ’Today I’m strong; my fears are gone/ Today I fight again’ — although Mr. Brazeau did not get that far," Hopper writes.

Brazeau, 38, remains a senator, but other senators voted to force him to take a leave of absence while the charges against him move through the courts. The vote also gave the the Senate the power to freeze Brazeau’s expense account.
