Election 2015: Charting the alternative parties

Every day, Maclean’s Show and Tell infographic series will highlight interesting data in a visually appealing way, bringing clarity and context to some aspect of the campaign—whether it’s one of the election’s major issues, or a less-discussed concern. You may not be aware of many of the parties running in this year’s federal election, but some of them already have a handful of candidates registered to run—136 candidates in total. This group is likely to grow in the month leading to voting day, but here we break down the current number of alternative-party candidates, and how they are distributed across the country.
