Swing and a miss. NDP Leader Tom Mulcair tried to embarrass Democratic Reform Minister Pierre Poilievre for inviting Sen. Marjory Lebreton to speak at a Tory breakfast fundraiser in Nepean, Ont. on Feb. 15. LeBreton is implicated in the Wright-Duffy affair. Poilievre has democratic reform in his job title. To Mulcair, this is problematic.

Harper, though, was buoyant. He stood and applauded Poilievre, and then his benches applauded further. Harper took a swipe at the New Democrats, and then sat down in wait of whatever came next. There was more, but neither the opposition nor the government side managed to move the trenches much this afternoon.
