Why International Business University Is the Smart Choice for These Students

What does a future-focused business education look like today? For these International Business University students, it meant choosing a program designed around employability and flexibility.

While balancing a full-time job and family responsibilities, Jacek Wojciechowski needed a business program that could keep up. International Business University (IBU) is Canada’s first not-for-profit, private university fully dedicated to business, small classes, flexible learning and a career-focused curriculum. IBU has helped students gain practical skills, leadership experience and real-world opportunities-all while advancing their career. “IBU stood out to me because every program is designed to align with industry needs,” Wojciechowski says. “The flexibility of study options and personalized guidance from professors were all unique advantages. Studying in a thriving business hub made my degree more valuable to employers, which helped me pursue my career goals.”

A flexible and supportive environment

Currently enrolled in the international management and technology program, Wojciechowski is on track to graduate with a bachelor of commerce in summer 2026. IBU has equipped Wojciechowski with leadership, strategic and analytical skills and practical administrative skills to prepare for more responsibilities in their dream field of production management.

“The program also offers opportunities to work on real-world projects and collaborate with classmates from diverse backgrounds, which helped me develop critical problem-solving and leadership skills," he says. “These experiences were directly applicable to my role at work, contributing to recognition and promotion.”

Earning a business degree requires support, whether that comes from family, friends, faculty or staff.

“I am also deeply grateful to enrollment services manager Jeorjene Estigoy, who ensured I had access to all my classes each semester and provided consistent support throughout my journey,” says Wojciechowski. “This level of personalized attention and guidance has been invaluable in helping me balance work, family and studies effectively, and has played a key role in my academic and professional success.”

A personalized learning experience

Other students have found IBU’s MBA includes the best of both worlds–combining flexible scheduling with coursework designed to keep them ahead in an evolving business environment.

For Toronto-based online MBA student Tania Jangie, flexibility and personal support made IBU the right fit. She wanted a program that balanced affordability and real career growth. “IBU didn’t just see me as a student but as someone with a purpose and vision,” she says. Through one-on-one guidance from her adviser, Tania has built confidence, discipline, and the leadership skills to advance her career on her own terms.

“What I appreciated most was how current and relevant the coursework was”, explains Binderiya Zayat, an online MBA student focusing on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. “Every class utilizes new and engaging case studies that reflect real business challenges, and professors always provide detailed feedback on every assignment. That level of engagement made me feel supported and motivated throughout the program.”

Zayat dreams of teaching at a university, she wants to share her knowledge and passion for marketing and entrepreneurship with other like-minded students. “Completing my master’s degree is just the beginning of that journey, and it has given me the foundation and drive to keep pushing forward.”

There is no "perfect time" to breathe new life into your career and skill set. For Zayat, she thought everything needed to align before taking the first step. “The truth is, you just need to commit to your goals,” she says. A smart choice is one that is rooted in breaking barriers and creating new paths.
