EAT
When you’re choosing a place to dine in St. Kitts, this place should be a shoo-in. The menu features masterful Italian dishes such as fresh burrata bursting with flavour, house made pasta, and famous gnocchi. The restaurant is built on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean, with breathtaking coastal views and Instagram-worthy sunsets. Chef Brendan Gooderham hails from Tottenham, Ontario and cut his teeth in top downtown Toronto restaurants. He has worked in some of the top restaurants in St. Kitts and Nevis and now spins his magic at Orchid Bay. Gooderham spent time in Italy with the owners of Orchid Bay to perfect his Italian cuisine and foster inspiration for the menu. One of the most popular dishes is the Fritto Misto, with super-fresh St. Kitts conch and shrimp.
This is a quintessential Caribbean casual place where you can dangle your feet in the sand on a beautiful beach and sip on a cold beer while overlooking the deep blue sea and the vivid green peaks of nearby Nevis. Dig into a plate of coconut shrimp salad, honey-mustard ribs or conch chowder. Their popular Lobster Fest is held on Fridays, with heaping helpings of fresh from the sea lobster, mahi mahi and shrimp, as well as perfectly frosty cocktails and live music to put you in the mood. The motto here is “Rush Slowly”…in other words, relax, you’re in St. Kitts. Put down your phone. Soak in the beauty and the vibe.

DRINK
Anybody can twist open a bottle and call themselves a rum expert. But St. Kitts is the only place on the planet where you can become a certified Kittian RumMaster. Head to Old Road Rum at the atmospheric Wingfield Manor Estate Historic Sugar Plantation Ruins, which date all the way back to 1681 and is the Caribbean’s oldest rum distillery. Here, you can learn about the many complex, deep flavour profiles of rum (vanilla, coconut, citrus and more) and where you can settle in and do some serious tasting. After being dragged away from the tasting table, you’ll head to the beautiful coastline of St. Kitts and try blending different types of rum and creating your own cocktails at Spice Mill Restaurant, where you can enjoy tranquil beach and ocean views.

PLAY
This is a family-owned coffee and citrus farm that sits high in the rainforest hills in northeast St. Kitts. Guides take you to see vegetables and fruit, including bananas, sweet potatoes, pineapple, breadfruit, figs, as well as coffee plants and herbs. You then proceed to enjoy a three-course lunch, created entirely from the farm’s amazingly fresh produce. You might taste pickled turmeric and get to enjoy homemade coffee ice cream. National Geographic named Liamuiga Natural Farm as one of their top cultural tourism spots for 2024. “As you explore Liamuiga Natural Farm, you’re not just a guest, you’re a part of our mission to preserve the environment, uphold Kittitian traditions, and create a sustainable future,” co-owner Tiffany Mike told National Geographic. Not only will you have great food and learn something about farming, but you might spot a wild Green Vervet monkey.

STAY
One of those “pinch me, I must be dreaming” kind of places, Belle Mont is a superbly stylish resort that combines historical architecture with modern, luxurious touches. There are less than 100 cottages and villas designed to blend in with nature, with features that include infinity pools, hand-made furniture and custom alfresco bathrooms. It’s a wonderful place to relax and soak in the beautify of the rainforest, or watch for playful, wild monkeys. The resort sits at 1,000 feet, high above the north coast of St. Kitts, and offers views of nearby sugar cane fields and the islands of St. Eustatias, St. Bart’s and Saint Maarten. It’s also a sustainable farm resort that grows flavourful organic bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and more. Head to The Kitchen for a meal centred around fruits, veggies and meat from local farmers, as well as fresh fish. You can also make a reservation at the Chef’s Table, or take an 8-minute drive to Arthur’s Restaurant and Beach Bar for a casual waterfront meal. The resort is close to Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back to the 1800’s.
