One thing about Robson Arms, which returns on April 28: It’s made a specialty of bringing Canadian actors to Canada. The new press release focuses on the presence of Dave Foley in the new season, while people who have appeared on the show in previous seasons include Megan Follows, Margot Kidder, Leslie Nielsen and Mark McKinney. Throw in the continued presence of two actors from CTV’s Corner Gas, and the show sometimes has the feel of a Canadian Love Boat, a place where you can have the fun of seeing people you recognize. Even the format -- an anthology format but with regular characters -- is kind of Love Boat-ish, as is the mixture of comic stories and dramatic stories.

The Love Boat comparisons end there (and there’s no shame in the comparison anyway), however.
