Variety is polling members of the Television Critics Association on the best U.S. (and occasionally British) shows and actors of the past decade. The short lists, and the final five nominees in each category, are posted here. Let the nit-picking and head-scratching begin.

I’ll start: I seriously have no idea what “Frasier” is doing there (on the short list for best comedy, and Kelsey Grammer is in the top five for best actor in a comedy). That show was great for most of the ’90s, quite terrible for most of the ’00s. I guess that’s the problem with doing best-of lists for a particular decade, though: some shows are great in one decade, bad in another, and which version of the show are you thinking of when you choose it?
