Remember the prime minister’s $30 billion defence plan?

Except it turns out it’s a half-trillion dollar plan.

INSTANT UPDATE: That can’t be true. $490 billion/ 20 years is, arithmetically, $24.5 billion a year. Doesn’t make sense. I’m gonna look up the plan and try to make sense of these figures...

FUNNY HE DIDN’T MENTION THIS DURING A FULL PARLIAMENTARY SESSION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS-DATE: Nope, there it is, on Page 4: "In total, the Government plans to invest close to $490 billion in defence over this period."
