I have always preferred the “McBain” segments on The Simpsons to the Itchy & Scratchy segments, and was disappointed when Rainier Wolfcastle was re-named “Arnold Schwarzenegger” in the movie, so I’m glad someone finally re-did this: taking the McBain clips from the first four seasons and putting them in sequence, so we get an idea of the plot of the film and his battle against the evil Senator Mendoza. I recall that this collection was on YouTube a couple of years ago, but it was pulled; it re-emerged yesterday, and Entertainment Weekly even got Al Jean to comment on it.

There are so many great moments here, but I think saying “Senator Mendoza” just makes me laugh the most: you can almost see some studio executive deciding that since the most popular villains in action movies at the time were corrupt politicians and foreign drug runners, they should just combine the two and have an evil Senator who’s the badly-accented head of an international drug cartel. But really, there’s too much good stuff to choose from — “Little Susie’s growing up,” “I don’t wanna hear it, McBain!,” and McBain’s partner getting shot from all sides even though there’s only one guy shooting him.

If the embed doesn’t work, it should be available at this link, unless it’s been pulled.

Wolfcastle has appeared on the show fairly frequently, but there haven’t been many McBain clips for a while, and Wolfcastle as himself isn’t as amusing as the fake movies he appears in. If only the show would start doing more McBains, we could finally see more of “Commie Nazis,” “McBain: Let’s Get Silly” and “Help, My Son is a Nerd!” (It’s not a comedy.)
