Waiting … and waiting … for CIDA to do its job

Normally I don’t get that sentimental about anniversaries, so I hope readers will forgive me for missing an important one yesterday: one whole year of the Canadian International Development Agency ragging the puck on an Access-to-Information request.

It’s now been a year and a day since I filed my latest request.  The original one was submitted in April 2007, but I was advised by CIDA staffers that narrowing the request would speed things along and save me a pile of “research fees”. (Scroll down to the bottom of the World Desk blog for the whole sordid story.)

I played along, and here we are a year later, still waiting for all the requested information. Here’s hoping CIDA is somehow more efficient when it comes to actually delivering aid and rebuilding shattered countries.
