Recall that intelligent people have been pointing to Sarko’s six-month presidency of the European Union as the key to landing a Canada-EU trade deal. How’s that going? Inauspiciously. Bit of a rocky start, I’m afraid. Half a billion people in Europe and who does Sarko, our designated trade champion, pick a fight with on his first day on the job! The trade commissioner!
