<p>In &#8216;Precious: Based on the novel “Push” by Sapphire,&#8217; Sidibe plays a depressed, illiterate, pregnant and sexually abused teenager. Her performance is so convincing that her real, cheerful personality, quick wit and mile-a-minute way of speaking shocked the media and the public alike at TIFF. She is not at all like the character, a revelation that makes her breakout performance even more amazing.</p>
