The John Molson School of Business (JMSB) recently revamped its program to reduce both the number of credits needed and time it takes to graduate. Full-time students can now finish their work in just 16 months in an accelerated MBA program.

To facilitate this quickened pace, students now take an online course prior to the start of classes. This “on-ramp” program covers key topics such as using spreadsheet software, case analysis, team building and time management. Students then take core classes focused on practical skills, including managerial analytics, financial reporting and marketing.

JMSB offers three ways to complete its MBA program: regular full-time, part-time and accelerated. Students may begin the part-time or full-time program in either September or January, and the accelerated program begins in September.

The school celebrates its diverse roster of students—15 per cent of those enrolled come from China, and an equal percentage come from India.

After completing the program’s core courses, participants are encouraged to tailor the program to their own interests by selecting from a wide variety of electives. Some potential specializations include business analytics, entrepreneurship and family firms, sustainability, consulting and globalization. Students also have the opportunity to complete a co-op placement.

The John Molson MBA International Case Competition, an annual event organized by a team of MBA students, is recognized as the largest international competition of its kind.
